Ryanair, the World’s worst airline, have just announced new routes from Oslo (Rygge).
Rygge? Where the heck is that? Yes, you’ve guessed it right, it’s bloody miles from Oslo. 63km to be exact.
Rygge Airport to Oslo takes 58 minutes by car, longer by train and even longer by bus – which only leaves once an hour. See the directions/distances here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=oslo,+norway+to+rygge,+norway&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=12.605358,31.376953&ie=UTF8&ll=59.671902,10.857239&spn=0.837695,1.96106&t=h&z=9
So imagine you are flying from Oslo, sorry Rygge, to Barcelona, sorry Girona with Ryanair, you would have to factor in the following:
1. Wait for bus – 1 hour
2. Bus to Rygge – 1 hour
3. Check-in – 1 hour
4. Flight – 3 hours
5. Get bags, exit airport, find bus stop and wait - 1 hour
6. Bus to Barcelona – 1 hour
Now this is conservative and still comes out at a whopping 8 hours!!!! That’s about double the time it would take if you flew from Oslo direct to Barcelona with a real airline.
Worth the “cheap ticket” with Ryanair? Thought not.
